What is Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust?

Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust was created on 2 December 1999 and launched on 24 January 2000. It is an independent non-profit trust promoting and supporting local community activity through a programme of constructive and innovative grant-making and creative partnerships. Perthshire is well known for the exceptional quality of life people could enjoy and the Trust aims to improve this quality of life of the inhabitants of Perth and Kinross area using sustainable development as a core value.

The Millennium celebrations were an opportunity to highlight the necessity to leave a lasting legacy for future generations based on sustainable development.

Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust is committed to be open, participatory and user-friendly.

The Trust is enrolled by Entrust as an Environmental Body (811047) and is distributing Landfill Communities Fund and other funding. The Trust is recognised as a Charity (SCO31297) and regulated by OSCR.

What are the Trust's priorities?

In order to address challenges, build on strengths and take advantage of opportunities within its remit, Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust Business Plan (2008-2010) is focusing on the following priorities:

SUPPORT: To increase support for local initiatives improving quality of life.

COOPERATION: To bring added value through joint working and alliances.

PARTICIPATION: To strengthen genuine community participation/engagement.

AWARENESS: To improve awareness of the public and organisations around quality of life issues.

Who are the Trustees?

The Trust is governed by 13 Trustees drawn from a wide spectrum of Perth and Kinross interests: community organisations (2), businesses (2), Perth and Kinross Council (3), Major Trust/Organisations (4), Young People (2)

Tina Lindsay (Ardoch Development Trust) and Isobel Ives (Take a Pride in Perthshire Association) for community organisations,

David Wilkie (Scottish Business in the Community) and David Orr (Norwich Union) for businesses,

Councillors Dave Scott, Callum Gillies, Bob Ellis for Perth and Kinross Council,

Andrew Saunders or Marek Gordon for SITA Trust,

James Adam for Perth and Kinross 50+ Forum,

Nornam Little for Royal Army Services Corps Memorial Trust),

Professor Martin Price or Catherine Lloyd for Tayside Biodiversity Partnership,

Tony Delaquallia and one additional trustee (vacant) for Perth and District YMCA.

Councillor Callum Gillies is the Chairman of Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust.
