COMMUNITY FLYTIPPING FUND This guide describes the context, priorities, eligibility, standard conditions, and mechanisms of the Community Waste and Flytipping Grant Scheme with regards to applications for a Community Flytipping Grant. Context The Community Waste Grant Scheme was expanded in January 2010 to allow community organisations to access to funding to assist in the management of flytipped waste on private land. There is now an opportunity to target funding to build greater community involvement through the provision of support and funding to assist communities in managing the problem including: Fencing Signage Removal of flytipped waste from private land Priorities for funding: The Community Flytipping Funding will support community and voluntary organisations who are developing projects under the following headings: - Waste removal / disposal - Land management for prevention of flytipping Who can apply? The definition of a voluntary/community organisation is a body which is led by volunteers, is non-profit distributing, legally independent of the state, and is dedicated to a public good (CoSLA/SCVO 1998). The funding criteria contained in this guide apply to all local voluntary/community and national voluntary organisations and umbrella organisations requesting financial support from the Community Flytipping Funding. Applicant organisations would have to demonstrate that they are open to all regardless of religion, race, gender or disability. What is eligible? Grants will normally be awarded for equipment costs for associated costs e.g. disposal costs, signage, dog / litter bins, promotional activities for reasonable professional fees which are directly incurred in respect of the project concerned. In addition professional fees will only be considered where consultation has taken place with the appropriate Council Service. What is not eligible? Grants will not normally be awarded retrospectively for annually recurring maintenance costs, for travelling and accommodation costs for professional fees except reasonable professional fees which are directly incurred in respect of the project concerned. In addition professional fees will only be considered where consultation has taken place with the appropriate Council Service. Level of grant The scheme can fund up to £3,000 of the project total costs. The maximum level of grant can be increased in exceptional circumstances. The scheme will not normally support projects requesting less than £100. The level of grant being sought should reflect the scale of the problem and work needing carried out.
