The purpose of the fund is to support the provision of services, projects and activities available to all young people. What types of projects, services or activities should apply? The types of projects this fund aims to benefit, are small, locally run projects which aim to make a real difference to the communities in which they are based. The projects, services or activities should be based around providing a service to all young people, not just those who commit offences or are at risk of doing so. Examples of funding include: · Building or improving local community facilities · Buying sports or leisure equipment · Running clubs or activities at times which are convenient for young people Criteria of Fund The criteria that has been set up for applying is wide, however we would ask that the following be taken into consideration. · Consultation must be carried out with the local community, in particular young people to ensure the project fits the communities needs; · Project, service or activity be well planned taking into account local needs and priorities; · There is no minimum bid but there is a maximum level of £10,000; · Projects, services or activities that involve working with partners will be especially welcomed; · Applications must be supported by copies of Health and Safety and Child Protection Policies and Risk Assessment and Equality issues must be addressed. Objectives of Fund The fund has a number of objectives, which are hoped to be achieved by the application of this fund. · Increasing the number of objectives, which are hoped to be achieved by the application of this fund; · An increased number of young people accessing these facilities; · Young people to have sustained interest and involvement in the activities provided; · A reduction in youth related calls to the police in areas where new facilities are located; · A reduction in community perceptions/concerns about youth crime; · An increase in the satisfaction of young people. By supporting the right projects, services or activities it is envisaged that the fund will bring about a positive effect on each objective. Who makes the decisions? The evaluation of the applications will be carried out by a Commissioning Board. The Commissioning Board is made up of representatives from Perth and Kinross Council, Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Services and Perth and Kinross Youth Justice Strategy Group. The Commissioning Board is meeting quarterly. It should be noted that a representative from each application may be invited along to a meeting in order to gain a better insight into the project. Once an application is received a letter will be sent back informing which meeting the application will be considered at, and also whether a representative should attend. All final decisions on applications will be sought to be confirmed by one week after the Commissioning Board Meeting. NB: It should be noted that should an application be located in an area where a Youth Partnership is established the application will be forwarded to them for comment. The may result in a delay in decision making however the group will be advised of this. Monitoring & Evaluation Information will be requested from those awarded grants. This will allow us to measure the performance of the fund in achieving the objectives stated above. It should be noted though that the level and type of information collected will be proportionate to the size of the grant awarded.
