NEWSROOM Be Better @ Funding Following the success of last year’s Be Better @ Funding events across Tayside, the Tayside Funding Group are running a workshop in Perth on Friday 13th June, “The Who, What, Where, When and Why of Funding”. To request a booking form please call Steve MacDonald on 01738 477963 or email srmacdonald@pkc.gov.uk LEADER Information Sessions Perth and Kinross Grants Direct have arranged LEADER information sessions in Kinross Learning Centre at 11.00am and Crieff Learning Centre at 3.00pm on Tuesday 17th June. LEADER is part of the new Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP), aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas. The programme is open to constituted community groups, social enterprises, voluntary organisations, public sector bodies and individuals who have public support for a project idea. For further information and to reserve a place at the information sessions please call Steve MacDonald on 01738 477963 or email srmacdonald@pkc.gov.uk £1 Million Available to Support Youth Projects Young people are being given the chance to claim a share of £1 million to help tackle the dangers of drugs, crime and play a positive role in their community. The Royal Bank of Scotland Community Cash Awards will see £1 million of grants being distributed by youth charity “ The Princes Trust” to young people who want to run community projects in some of Britain’s poorest areas. The Awards, worth £250 to £5,000, are available to disadvantaged 14 to 25 year olds who want to transform their area and learn practical skills. (more) Green Grants from CSV’s Green Action Campaign Looking for money to carry our practical environmental projects across Scotland? The CSV Action Earth Campaign has 2 different grants to assist you. SNH Biodiversity Awards of £250 are available to groups creating or improving habitats for wildlife. Projects could include planting, creating or renovating existing sites and making nesting boxes. CSV Action Earth Grants of £50 are available to projects planting bulbs, creating footpaths, recycling, litter picking and a whole range of other activities. Both grants can be used to help volunteers with materials, plants, tools, equipment, travel and refreshments. (more) Clore Duffield Performing Arts Awards Organisations such as registered charities, youth groups, limited companies and schools that wish to undertake activities that enable young people to experience the performing arts are eligible to apply for funding under the Clore Duffield Performing Arts Award. Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available for educational projects that cover every aspect of the performing arts including opera, dance, music, musical theatre, the spoken word and theatre. (more) Playgrounds Partnerships 2008 A total of £500,000 has been made available to Primary Schools to improve their play spaces. Awards of £1,000, £2,000 and £5,000 and £10,000 are available. The scheme encourages a pupil-led approach, involvement of the whole school, input from the wider school community, high quality teaching and learning across the curriculum and inclusion of pupils with special educational needs. The closing date for applications is 18th July. (more) Funding to Promote Financial Inclusion The Friends Provident Foundation makes grants of up to £200,000 to not-for profit organisations for projects that address financial exclusion within disadvantaged communities. The Foundation will consider applications for work that will make a strategic contribution to the overall outcome of financial inclusion in the UK. The Foundation will consider requests for capital or revenue funding, core funds or project costs. (more) Dulverton Trust Registered charities and organisations with charitable status active in the areas of Youth and Education, General Welfare, Conservation, Religion, Preservation, Peace and Security and Africa may have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Dulverton Trust. The Trust provides two principal types of grants. These are major grants of up to £25,000 for national or regional projects and minor grants of up to £3,000 aimed at organisations operating at local or county level.
