NEWSROOM Funding Success in Perth and Kinross artSPACE Scotland successfully secured £10,000 from The Gannochy Trust. The funding will contribute towards a Manager and Art Worker to further the application of arts activities in the local community. Rural Tayside LEADER has been awarded £2 million to be allocated over the period 2008-2013. LEADER is part of the new Scottish Rural Development Programme, aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas. The programme aims to increase the capacity of local rural community and business networks to build knowledge and skills, innovate and co-operate in order to tackle local development objectives. The programme is open to constituted community groups, social enterprises, voluntary organisations, public sector bodies and individuals who have public support for a project idea. Perth and Kinross Voluntary and Community Sector Conference 2008 Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Services hosted a conference on Friday 14th March in Fishers Hotel, Pitlochry. The main theme of the conference was ’Survival and Sustainability’. Keynote speakers on the day included John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, and Paul White, Director of Networks at Scottish Council of Voluntary Services (SCVO). A range of workshops were facilitated and a “Survival Treasure Hunt” provided delegates with the opportunity to split into teams and use allocated resources to design a sustainability plan. Approximately 100 delegates attended the event and a range of positive feedback was received. Funding support was provided by Awards For All, The Cray Trust and PPD. The Peoples Millions Communities throughout the country are being given the chance to win the public’s support in their regions and share in £5 million of National Lottery funding. Peoples Millions want to fund projects that transform the local environment or provide opportunities or facilities to allow people to take part in and enjoy their local area. The deadline for completed applications is 15th May. (more) HBOS Foundation – Community Action Programme Through its Community Action Programme, the HBOS Foundation makes grants of up to £10,000 to support a diverse range of local activities. The programme is open to registered charities and has two key themes: money advice and financial literacy and developing and improving local communities. (more) Woodland Family Trust The Wood Family Trust was established in 2007 to help develop and support individuals to become independent, healthy, contributing members of their communities. The Trust intends to invest £50 million over the next 5-10 years. There are three clear areas of investment focus: · Livelihood in Developing Countries · 16-25 year olds in the UK—Volunteering Overseas · Developing Young People in Scotland Applications can be made at any time. (more) Funding through Local Youth Banks YouthBank is an innovative UK-wide grant making initiative run by young people for young people. Local Youth Banks provide small grants to young people for activities that benefit the local community. (more) Funding to Support Work with Disaffected Young People Registered charities working with young people aged 11 to 25 are able to apply for funding for community projects through the Joanis Trust. The Trust is looking to help fund projects that offer intensive support to young people that lead to individual development through integration, work opportunities or accreditation.
