NEWSROOM Awards For All Funding Success in Perth and Kinross Invergowrie Primary School Parent Staff Association have received £10,000 from Awards For All to pay for an Adventure Trail and its installation in the school playground. Blairgowrie and Rattray Community Council have been awarded £1,758 to pay for a laptop computer, printer, software and printing costs to support the production of their community newsletter. Perthshire Childminding Group will use a £4,953 grant to provide play equipment, educational games and outing costs for registered childminders in the Perthshire area. Blairgowrie and Eastern Perthshire Tourism Association secured a grant of £7,000 to design, print and distribute a marketing leaflet designed to boost the local tourism industry in the area. Major New Arts Participation Fund Inspire is an £8 million fund that has been developed as part of the Scottish Arts Council’s commitment to increasing participation and aims to provide more, wider and better engagement with the arts. Inspire is a unique opportunity for a wide range of organisations, including arts organisations, voluntary and community groups, to apply for lottery funding. Priority will be given to applications which demonstrate that they extend the reach and nature of engagement with the arts, ensure quality artistic engagement and create potential for new, creative cross sectoral partnerships. (more) B & Q : You can Do It Awards Awards of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available to help local communities create inclusive and sustainable projects. Awards in 2007 included the refurbishment of local sporting facilities; social enterprise workshops and community facilities; as well as equipment for improving community gardens. (more) BBC Children in Need The next deadline for applications to the BBC Children in Need is 30 March 2008. BBC Children in Need provides grants for up to 3 years to constituted not-for-profit organisations working with disadvantaged young people aged 18 or under. Last year the programme made grants of £33 million to over 1,500 organisations. (more) Funding Scheme to Support Culture and Sport Amongst Young People The Big Lottery Fund, the Arts Council and Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Legacy Trust UK have come together to launch a new £40 million funding scheme to use the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to promote culture and sport among young people and communities. Under the scheme, funding will be available on a national and regional basis under three broad themes; Sport and Wellbeing, Knowledge and Learning and Arts & Culture. The types of projects supported are likely to encompass community sport, healthy living, wellbeing, education, learning and personal development, heritage, the performing arts, creativity, community events and festivals. (more) Big Lottery Fund Deadlines Deadlines have been announced for The Big Lottery’s Investing in Communities programme with the final decisions being made during 2009. The deadlines for Outline Proposals for the investment areas - Growing Community Assets, Supporting 21st Century Life and Life Transitions - has been brought forward to Friday 1 August 2008, so that all applicants can have sufficient time to complete their full application. The deadline for full application forms to Supporting 21st Century Life and Life Transitions is 1st December 2008. The deadline for full applications to the Growing Community Assets strand is 27 February 2009. Comic Relief Grants Deadlines Comic Relief, which operates a number of grant schemes through its Red Nose Days funding programme, has issued a reminder that the application deadlines to its main grants programme are the 29 February 2008 and 15 August 2008. Grants are available through 6 programme areas (Young People, Older People, Mental Health, Asylum Seekers, Domestic Violence and Disadvantaged Communities).
