Funding Success in Perth and Kinross

 

Perth Grammar School has been awarded £80,000 through the lottery’s Peoples Millions scheme.  The school was shortlisted, along with one other project from Highland, and the winner decided by public vote.

 

The money will be used to refurbish the school/community theatre, build a play area for the pre-5’s at the community wing, create an outdoor classroom and a horticultural centre to produce vegetables for the school kitchen.

 

Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, has successfully secured £50 million of Lottery cash to fund 79 projects across the UK, including a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Tay between Perth and Scone.

 

The decision was announced by The Big Lottery on 12th December, and represented the biggest public vote for a lottery funding award to date.

 

Thank you to everyone who voted for the above projects.

 

Scone Tennis Club has been awarded £48,000 from Sportscotland to carry out a range of improvements to their facilities including floodlighting, resurfacing of courts and fencing.  The club also celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2007.

 

Loch Tummel Sailing Club has secured £97,000 of funding from Sportscotland to purchase 2 existing chalets and convert them into male and female changing rooms, a training room, a small kitchen extension in the clubroom and the provision of an accessible ramp.

 

Comic Relief Announces Next Application Deadline

 

Comic Relief, which operates a number of grant schemes through its Red Nose Days funding programme, has announced that the next application deadline for grants is the 29th February 2008.  Grants are available through 6 programme areas (Young People, Older People, Mental Health, Asylum Seekers, Domestic Violence and Disadvantaged Communities).  (more)

 

Eco-Schools Grant Scheme—Scotland

 

Grants of up to £1,000 are available to enable schools in Scotland that are registered Eco-Schools, and have achieved a Silver Award, to progress through the Eco-Schools programme.

 

The Eco-Schools programme provides a framework to enable schools to become more sustainable and reduce the environmental impact of the whole school on the community.  Both primary and secondary schools can apply.  The Eco-Schools Grant Scheme provides funding for feasibility studies, building work and equipment costs which support the development of the schools Eco-Schools programme.  (more)

 

Woodland Trust Community Tree Planting Grant

 

The Woodland Trust is offering grants for community tree planting initiatives.  Community groups, associations and not for profit organizations such as community action groups, local residents groups, environmental action group, scouts, brownies etc. can apply for grants of £100 for tree planting projects organized by the local community.  The Woodland Trust Community Tree Planting Grant is open until the 31st January 2008.  (more)

 

New Dates for Dynamic, Inclusive Communities

 

Dynamic, Inclusive Communities is The Big Lottery Funds £20m commitment to help build and strengthen the voluntary and community sector in Scotland.  Funding is available to help the sector operate more effectively and efficiently.

 

In order to ensure that projects have an opportunity to be considered for future funding, the closing date for outline proposal forms is now 31 January 2008.  Those projects which are then invited to complete a full application must do so by 31 May 2008.  All projects can then be assessed and decisions taken October 2008.  (more)

 

Funding for Individuals and Small Groups to Improve their Local Communities

 

Groups of individuals as well as small community and voluntary groups within the UK that want to improve their communities can apply for funding through the Wakeham Trust.  The Trust are interested in supporting neighbourhood projects, community arts projects, projects involving community service by young people, or projects set up by those who are socially excluded.  (more)

 

Funders Fair Plus

 

CVS Perth and Kinross, with support from its partners in the Tayside Funding Group, have arranged a Funders Fair on Thursday 7th February 2008 from 11am until 3.30pm in the Salutation Hotel, Perth.

 

Delegates will have the chance to meet major funders and discuss funding opportunities with them, attend workshops and carry out funding searches using electronic databases.
