COMMUNITY SAFETY

What is the Community Safety Partnership Local Action Fund?

The Local Action Fund is money which has been allocated to the Perth and Kinross Community Safety Partnership by the Scottish Executive. The purpose of the fund is to support the provision of services, projects and activities available to all young people.

What types of projects, services or activities should apply?

The types of projects this fund aims to benefit, are small, locally run projects which aim to make a real difference to the communities in which they are based. The projects, services or activities should be based around providing a service to all young people, not just those who commit offences or are at risk of doing so.

Examples of funding include:

o building or improving local community facilities;

o

o buying sports or leisure equipment;

o

o running clubs or activities at times which are convenient for young people.

Criteria

The criteria that has been set for applying is wide, however we would ask that the following be taken into consideration.

o Consultation must be carried out with the local community, in particular young people to ensure the project fits the communities needs;

o

o Project, service or activity be well planned taking into account local needs and priorities;

o

o Minimum Bid £1,000 and Maximum £10,000;

o

o Projects, services or activities that involve working with partners will be especially welcomed;

o

o If applicable address issues such as Health & Safety, Risk Assessment, Child Protection and Equality.

Objectives of Fund

The fund has a number of objectives, which are hoped to be achieved by the application of this fund.

o Increasing the number of services and facilities available which provide constructive and relevant activities for young people;

o

o An increased number of young people accessing these facilities;

o

o Young people to have sustained interest and involvement in the activities provided;

o

o A reduction in youth related calls to the police in areas where new facilities are located;

o

o A reduction in community perceptions/concerns about youth crime; and

o

o An increase in the satisfaction of young people.

o

By supporting the right projects, services or activities it is envisaged that the fund will bring about a positive effect on each objective.

Who makes the decisions?

The evaluation of the applications will be carried out by a Commissioning Board. The Commissioning Board is made up of representatives from Perth and Kinross Council, Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Services and Perth and Kinross Youth Justice Strategy Group.

Monitoring & Evaluation
