FUNDING FOR ARTS, SPORTS AND ACTIVE RECREATION Quick links to funding for arts, sports and active recreation projects; Perth and Kinross Leisure provide financial assistance towards the cost of providing a facility, extending a facility or for major repair costs. (more) To apply, please use the Single Application Form Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust will support projects which improve the Quality of Life within Perth and Kinross and develop sustainable communities. Projects which encourage community participation in sport and arts, provide community leisure and recreation facilities and encourage walking, riding or cycling are supported. To apply, please use the Single Application Form The Common Good Funds are in place to support local residents and organisations by distributing grants. These grant awards allow individuals and local organisations to carry out a wide range of community based activities including exchanges, attendance at events, provision/improvement of facilities and acquisition of equipment. Funding priorities include school sport, club and community development, coaching, volunteering, player improvement, medal success, facilities and organisational development. Funding Scheme to Support Culture and Sport Amongst Young People The Big Lottery Fund, the Arts Council and Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Legacy Trust UK have come together to launch a new £40 million funding scheme to use the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to promote culture and sport among young people and communities. Under the scheme, funding will be available on a national and regional basis under three broad themes; Sport and Wellbeing, Knowledge and Learning and Arts & Culture. The types of projects supported are likely to encompass community sport, healthy living, wellbeing, education, learning and personal development, heritage, the performing arts, creativity, community events and festivals. (more) Lottery Legacy for 2014 Commonwealth Games The BIG Lottery will launch a ‘2014 Communities’ fund to create a lasting community legacy from Glasgow’s 2014 Commonwealth Games. The fund will be aimed at supporting people and communities to participate in the landmark event, whether that be through taking part in sport, volunteering, learning new skills or by arranging celebratory events marking Scotland’s place in the Commonwealth. The Big Lottery Fund is keen for people and communities to have their say in where Lottery money should go in support of Glasgow’s 2014 Commonwealth Games. Grants of up to £1,000 are available through the Kellog’s Active Living Fund for projects that remove the ‘barriers’ which stop people being active. The fund is open to charities and other voluntary and community organisations as well as as schools for activities that directly lead to people taking part in sustained physical activity. (more) Major New Arts Participation Fund Inspire is an £8 million fund that has been developed as part of the Scottish Arts Council’s commitment to increasing participation and aims to provide more, wider and better engagement with the arts. Inspire is a unique opportunity for a wide range of organisations, including arts organisations, voluntary and community groups, to apply for lottery funding. Priority will be given to applications which demonstrate that they extend the reach and nature of engagement with the arts, ensure quality artistic engagement and create potential for new, creative cross sectoral partnerships. (more) Public Art Fund The Public Art Fund, operated by the Scottish Arts Council, runs an open application scheme until 31 January 2009. The scope of public art projects supported has been broadened to include temporary, permanent, cross artform and multidisciplinary work. The Public Art Form is aimed at attracting original purposes - from a broad range of organisations - to produce exciting and innovative public art across Scotland. (more) HBOS Foundation – Community Action Programme Through its Community Action Programme, the HBOS Foundation makes grants of up to £10,000 to support a diverse range of local activities. The programme is open to registered charities and has two key themes: money advice and financial literacy and developing and improving local communities. (more) The Peter De Haan Charitable Trust The Peter De Haan Charitable Trust supports charitable organisations which aim to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the UK. This year the charity expects to make grants of between £2 million and £3 million. The funding available is delivered through three programme areas; Social Welfare, The Environment, The Arts. Grants can be for project-based applications or to subsidise core costs and can be available for up to three years. Applications are considered on a continuing basis throughout the year.
