FUNDING FOR BUILDINGS AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT Quick links to funding for buildings and natural environment; Corporate Financial Assistance to the Voluntary/Community Sector The Council awards grants from its Corporate Financial Assistance Budget to voluntary/community organisations to invest in growth and development and grass-roots activities. This includes support for capital projects, village halls, sports clubs and bloom committees. (more) To apply, please use the Single Application Form Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust (Better Place to Live Grants) Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust will support projects which improve the Quality of Life within Perth and Kinross and develop sustainable communities. This includes better use of buildings and land by providing local amenities, improving access for disabled, re-using/conserving buildings, using open space for community benefit and encouraging biodiversity. To apply, please use the Single Application Form Perth and Kinross Council’s Community Waste Grant Scheme is a new initiative to help build greater community involvement in the drive to reduce the amount of waste that we send to landfill. Through the scheme, support and funding can be provided for a range of community led initiatives. (more) Community Flytipping Fund The Community Waste Grant Scheme was expanded in January 2010 to allow community organisations to access funding to assist in the management of flytipped waste on private land. There is now an opportunity to target funding to build greater community involvement through the provision of support and funding to assist communities in managing the problem including; fencing; signage; removal of flytipped waste from private land. (more) SITA Tayside Biodiversity Fund The Fund will aim to deliver biodiversity conservation and enhancement for UK species and habitats through physical works. (more)

These grant awards allow individuals and local organisations to carry out a wide range of community based activities including capital grants for provision/improvement of facilities. Awards For All awards grants of between £500 and £10,000 for people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community. Support is given to improving premises and building better facilities. (more)
Heritage Lottery Fund
The Heritage Lottery Fund enables communities to celebrate, look after and learn more about our diverse heritage. The fund covers the entire spread of heritage, including buildings, museums, natural heritage and the heritage of cultural heritage and traditions. (more)
LEADER
Rural Tayside has been awarded £2million of LEADER funding to be allocated over the period 2008-2013.
LEADER is part of the new Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP), aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas. Support will be aimed primarily at small-scale, community driven projects that are pilot and innovative in nature.
The programme is open to constituted community groups, social enterprises, voluntary organisations, public sector bodies and individuals who have public support for a project idea. (more)
The Conservation Foundation and O2 have come together to operate an award scheme to help people improve their local environment. ‘Its Your Community’ will provide awards of up to £1,000 to local organisations and individuals to support environmental projects such as turning derelict land into an amenity park or wildlife area, tree planting, creating a wildlife pond, renovating neglected river and canal footpaths, providing water butts and recycling facilities in village halls, etc. (more) Links Foundation The Links Foundation fund a wide range of community-based projects in the UK. All applications must show the positive impact a project could have on a community. There is no set amount, but average awards are around £20,000. Funding can be for new or existing projects and can help meet capital and revenue costs. Applications are considered 3 times per year. (more) Ibrahim Foundation Grants of between £500 and £10,000 are available to organisations which aim to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the UK. The fund likes to consider work which others may find hard to fund, perhaps because it is too risky, requires core funding or needs a more unusual form of financial help such as a loan. (more) ASDA Foundation Trust The ASDA Foundation Trust was set up in 1998 to support local good causes chosen by employees and is funded by profits from the mid-week national lottery. The Foundation can support charities within the UK, as well as people and projects that require financial assistance, as long as they have the support of local ASDA colleagues. Potential applicants should contact their local ASDA store or depot in the first instance. (more) Abbey Charitable Trust Abbey Charitable Trust is committed to supporting local communities and disadvantaged people, particularly in those areas where Abbey has a significant presence. The Trust funds projects that meet one or more of the following priorities: · Education and training for disadvantaged people · Financial advice to help people manager their money · Projects where different part of the community work together to help improve the local area The funding is available to registered charities. Most donations will be between £500 and £4,000. Applications can be submitted at any time. (more) CashBack for Communities Fund 2008-2010 The Cash Back for Communities Fund could help you increase youth work events and activities in your local area; if in an area of multiple deprivation and the young people you work with are between 10 and 19. (more) The Peter De Haan Charitable Trust The Peter De Haan Charitable Trust supports charitable organisations which aim to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the UK. This year the charity expects to make grants of between £2 million and £3 million. The funding available is delivered through three programme areas; Social Welfare, The Environment, The Arts. Grants can be for project-based applications or to subsidise core costs and can be available for up to three years. Applications are considered on a continuing basis throughout the year. (more) Scotland in Focus Young Scot is calling for applications to fund projects that will enhance the environment and appearance of urban areas and neighbourhoods around the country. Scotland in Focus has been created to encourage young people in Scotland to identify and improve the places that are important to them. Areas that are neglected, affected by litter, vandalism, or would benefit from projects such as community gardens will be considered for funding.
